Lose Change Update

March 26th, 2014 at 12:30 am

Okay, so some updates are going to be "ho-hum"...like this one. A deposit of $.04 bringing my total up to $.05. Stop laughing......I know, not much right....but, if I do this day after day, at the end of the year, I am going to have a nice little deposit to make against my mortgage principal....wish me luck:

3/25/14
Deposit - $.04
Balance - $.05

I will say it again...it ALL counts! Smile I found a nickel today outside a convenience store. We just stopped to use the facilities, no spending.

I once made a mortgage principal payment of $7.50 and guess what, my home has been paid off since April of last year. Keep it up!

We never laugh here at things like that!

Great idea! I do something similar with all my change and bills under $5 and any unused allowance/food money at the end of the week.

For instance, this week I am traveling in Southern California. I took the travel advance to cover meals and misc expenses. I haven't even used the full travel advance nor have I touched my allowance/grocery money for this week beginning last Sunday. When I return home any extra from the advance and most of the left over week money goes into the money jar for savings. I will need a few groceries but not enough to use the whole amount and this weekend is pretty quiet after this long week away.

Its all good. Someone once said to me "I will learn finances when I get big money." Nope: that's what gets the lottery winner living in the trailer after a couple of years. Much easier to learn finances on the small money, and whatever you learn you can apply to the big money.
