Got my Juicer

January 27th, 2009 at 01:08 am

I finally did it! As I blogged a few weeks ago or so, I was in the market via Ebay, etc., for a juicer.

After much research, I decided on the Juiceman versus Jack Lalanes Juicer.

The Juiceman ran me $52.00 including tax, no shipping, right from Target.

The other juicer was $99.00 plus tax at Target.

I tried it out this evening (four apples and two carrots). WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to play with this "toy" some more.

If anyone has any juicing receipies, please share them. Thanks and God bless.

Go to the library and get books from Carol Alt (raw food), Steve Meyerowitz, and Patricia Bragg: they will have juicing recipes. Cabbage juice is supposed to be terrific. The internet is your friend for this too: use your search engine of choice for 'juicing recipes for detox,' 'juicing recipes health', and 'juicing recipes energy.' Congratulations on your healthful and wise purchase!

my top tips are (i am a fellow juice lover!)
add a bit of mint, only a couple of leaves. if you have one of those ones that wizz around really fast (as opposed to the other ones that crush slowly) then poke the mint into another piece of fruit like pineapple or orange, otherwise the juicer seems to just wizz the mint leaf into the pulp bay and not get any flavour from it.
also, add a small piece of ginger, it turns out really yummy and is good for you.

I got a gift from a well to do family member. They got me a Blendtec blender. I would never have bought one so I was happy for the gift. It does everything but serve you the item you have prepared.

I have already started with some smoothies! It is great!

I bought a juicer at a garage sale last year, but it had no instructions. I haven't made the effort to figure out how to use it, but you guys have inspired me. I'm going to give it a try.

Ooh, I want a juicer! I know I don't really have room for one, but maybe someday I'll get creative with space and get one. I got a Vitamix blender and it is soo handy.

I don't have any recipes, but I had fresh apple-spinach juice once years ago, and I still remember it as one of the best juices I've ever tasted.

Juicers are amazing! I like to actually mix kale, carrot and apple together. It leads to a very strange looking color, but I like the taste a lot! I do find that it is good to go easy on the juice if you are including wheat grass at first, because that stuff will really send your digestive tract for a loop initially! Great for you, though... a juicer provides some of the best forms of ingestible health insurance that I know of. Enjoy and cheers!
